It provides the software framework to make multiscale models as defined by the MAPPER project or complex automata as defined in
3 the COAST project. The implemented generic coupling mechanism reduces common problems and facilitate the development of multiscale simulations consisting of a multitude of submodels. The resulting implementation allows the coupling of legacy as well as dedicated codes with only minor adjustments.

It provides the software framework to implement multiscale models as defined by the MAPPER project or complex automata as defined in
3the COAST project. The generic coupling mechanism is suitable for many different types of multiscale applications. The runtime environment solves common problems in distributed computing and couples submodels whether they are built for high-performance supercomputers or for local execution. The resulting implementation allows the coupling of legacy as well as dedicated codes with only minor adjustments.
