= MUSCLE =
MUSCLE - Multiscale Coupling Library and Environment is a platform independent agent system to couple multiscale simulations. It provides the software framework to build simulations according to the complex automata theory defined in 
the [[http://www.complex-automata.org/|COAST project]]. The implemented generic coupling mechanism reduces common problems and facilitate the development of multiscale simulations consisting of a multitude of submodels. The resulting implementation allows the coupling of legacy as well as dedicated codes with only minor adjustments. 

MUSCLE is currently a part of the software stack provided by the [[www.mapper-project.eu/|MAPPER project]], where it is enhanced and adapted to the Grid infrastructures.

== Installation ==
The bundle of the MUSCLE framework can be downloaded and compiled on a target machine. For details see the [[Installation|Installation section]].
